The Old Workshop
An old stone barn workshop, hemmed in on all sides, brought out our ingenuity!
The property initially served as an old stone barn workshop, within a confined courtyard setting. The primary objective was to transform this space into a comfortable living area, without compromising its original structure and limited dimensions. Despite the challenges posed by the existing boundaries, through innovative design, we successfully integrated three bedrooms, a spacious kitchen/dining/living area, utility room, and cozy corner into the layout, resulting in a well-organised family residence.
Preservation of the original building was a key focus, with the contractor skillfully extending the stone wall heads to maintain architectural continuity. Furthermore, the addition of a deck at the rear of the house, accessible from the open-plan living area, allows our clients to enjoy the Southern aspect of their garden and bask in the sunlight.
